Hi, I'm Caitlin 👋 and I want to help you get excited about our world and explore it confidently

Who is this blog for?

According to Caitlin is a travel blog for anyone who loves to travel – especially couples and full-time employees looking to make the most of their vacation time without sacrificing comfort.

Here, you’ll find everything from budget-friendly options and must-try foods to practical travel advice, like how to get from the airport to your hotel.

My travel journey

I grew up on a farm in rural Australia, where traveling beyond my state wasn’t something I had the chance to do. That all changed at 22 when I booked a solo Contiki tour in Europe – my first trip abroad and my very first time on a plane! The experience was terrifying, exhilarating, and completely life-changing. I fell in love with travel – the excitement of discovering new places and trying foods I’d never even heard of.

Since then, my life has been filled with adventures (and, yes, a couple of lockdowns along the way). To date, I’ve been fortunate enough to explore 16 countries, with my partner by my side.

But here’s the twist: I didn’t quit my job to travel the world. I love my 9-to-5 as a graphic designer, and I make the most of my holidays to fit in my travels. I understand the challenge of balancing work and travel, and that’s exactly why this site is here—to help you do the same.

This blog is my ongoing travel journal, filled with recent adventures while I dig through my memories to share past trips and experiences before they fade.

How do you fund your travels?

We’re lucky to both have full-time jobs, but because international travel from Australia can be pricey, we try to be frugal in our everyday life to save for our trips.

What’s your favourite destination and why?

This is a tough one because I find something to love about every country I’ve visited. But one of my most memorable experiences was seeing the stunning landscapes of Scotland on our road trip.
